Temptation’s seductivity
Having what we don’t have is the desire that lives inside of us that drives us crazy. Temptation is the strong desire to do or have what we know we most definitely shouldn’t do or have, with resisting temptation being the unbearable act of refusing what we want the most, while it’s pounding our inner desire buttons like a jackhammer. Submitting ourselves to the very things we know we can’t resist is a class “A” fools errand, and yet, all day long we subject ourselves to the things that we know we can’t resist. Why did God place us in such a situation as this, where we are continually painting ourselves into a corner and feeling resigned to give in to what we can’t seemingly rid ourselves of? James drives home the principles and wisdom necessary to deal with temptation, here with simplicity.. “ 1:12 Blessed is the one who endures temptation; for when they have been approved, they will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him. 13 Let no one say when they are tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. 14 But each one is tempted when they are drawn away by their own desires and enticed. 15 Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.” ¿Right now we are living in the most tempting environment mankind has ever made possible for itself, and our biggest mistake is telling ourselves that it is ok to be involved in and given over to all of this temptation. Where there’s no fear of consequences temptation becomes the drug that is accepted within us that we become addicted to, with payment for the addiction being mortgaged out so far into the future that the soul feels satisfied in the sin that will kill it, utterly blinded by the seduction of it that strips us of everything we are looking for, in all the wrong places. What are your sinful pleasures that you’ve validated and accepted as part of your daily life? Understand what this means.. “James 1:21 Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.”! Identifying temptation for what it is can only be recognized by knowing the difference between right and wrong found in God’s word, and then being on guard like a soldier defending our own souls from what will potentially creep in and destroy us from within, once we allow it into our life, which is our responsibility! Father, I pray for strength and wisdom to recognize and resist what leads me away from You, and seductively destroys me by my own ignorance. In Christ’s name, Amen
